Mount Manaslu, an eight highest mountain in earth stands 8163m (26,781ft) tall. Locally the mountain is also referred as Kutang and is situated in the Mansiri Himal Range. Manaslu the name itself derived from the Sanskrit word Manasa which means intellect. Hence, we can even explain this mountain as the Mountain of Soul.
Manaslu circuit trek one of the less crowded trekking route in Nepal lies in the Gorkha district of Nepal situated just 60 km apart from Mount Annapurna. The peak was first ascended by the Japanese expeditor named Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu. The Trek revolves around the Culture (both Hindu and Buddhist), Variety of flora and Fauna, vivid wildlife and geographical topography. It is the blend of the natural as well as a cultural tour along with a fusion of sightseeing and hence is most suitable for the one who wants to explore natural resources and cultural heritages. The majority of the people who reside en route are mostly Tibetan Buddhist.
Manaslu region is widely popular among trekkers, hikers for the stunning view of mountains (more than 10 mountain peaks above 6500m). The treks begin in Soti Khola and end at Besisahar. It is one of the closest trekking destination from Kathmandu valley as the trek will begin just after traveling 126 km (6-8 hours). Manaslu Circuit Trek is the 14-day tea house style trek. The trek covers the distance of 177 km and covers the Manaslu including some edges of Annapurna mountain range. This region lies inside the Manaslu Conservation area and need a special permit or pass to enter. The government of Nepal only opened this circuit in 1991. The route was originally the caravan route for salt carriers. Larkya La pass is the highest point of the route. Similarly, the hot springs bath on the way had added advantage to the trek.
