Mount Manaslu, an eight highest mountain in earth stands 8163m (26,781ft) tall. Locally the mountain is also referred as Kutang and is situated in the Mansiri Himal Range. Manaslu the name itself derived from the Sanskrit word Manasa which means intellect. Hence, we can even explain this mountain as the Mountain of Soul.

Manaslu circuit trek one of the less crowded trekking route in Nepal lies in the Gorkha district of Nepal situated just 60 km apart from Mount Annapurna. The peak was first ascended by the Japanese expeditor named Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu. The Trek revolves around the Culture (both Hindu and Buddhist), Variety of flora and Fauna, vivid wildlife and geographical topography. It is the blend of the natural as well as a cultural tour along with a fusion of sightseeing and hence is most suitable for the one who wants to explore natural resources and cultural heritages. The majority of the people who reside en route are mostly Tibetan Buddhist.

Manaslu region is widely popular among trekkers, hikers for the stunning view of mountains (more than 10 mountain peaks above 6500m). The treks begin in Soti Khola and end at Besisahar. It is one of the closest trekking destination from Kathmandu valley as the trek will begin just after traveling 126 km (6-8 hours). Manaslu Circuit Trek is the 14-day tea house style trek. The trek covers the distance of 177 km and covers the Manaslu including some edges of Annapurna mountain range.  This region lies inside the Manaslu Conservation area and need a special permit or pass to enter. The government of Nepal only opened this circuit in 1991. The route was originally the caravan route for salt carriers. Larkya La pass is the highest point of the route. Similarly, the hot springs bath on the way had added advantage to the trek.

Manaslu Circuit Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

Our company representatives will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport you will be transferred to three-star category hotel in a private car. Hotel Check-in, resting time, freshen up time will be provided and you have to get ready for the meeting in the company office. The meeting includes the brief explanation of the activities, do and don’ts, and details description of the itinerary. Also, you will receive your permits to enter Manaslu Conservation Area Project. After the completion of the meeting you will be taken for welcome dinner accompanied with Nepali music, dance and cuisines in best typical Nepali restaurant with Nepali Themes. 

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Tour and Trek Preparation

The sightseeing features some of the major landmarks and UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley including Pashupatinath Temple, Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa. This trip will freshen up your mind and will provide the opportunity to come across the culture and tradition of Nepal. Similarly, you will also experience the ancient royal lifestyle. You will come to see the rituals, belief, and lifestyle of people around the Kathmandu valley. After the trip, all of you are requested to gather in our office for the remaining trek preparation like finalizing your clothing and training to handle the trekking gear if necessary.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Arughat, 6 to 7 hours, (570m/1870ft)

The day will begin after your breakfast in the hotel. Total driving duration to Arughat is around 6 to 7 hours in a tourist bus. You will get a chance to see the villages of Nepal, terrain farming, landscape hills and mountain on your way. You will see Trishuli River on your way. Your bus will stop for the lunch around one in highway hotels. After few hours you will reach Arughat and our company representative will transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Arughat.

Day 04: Hike to Soti Khola, (730m/2,395ft)

After the quick breakfast in the hotel, we now head towards the stone-paved track leading to the north. The track along the bank of the river, rice farm, and the forest will entertain us throughout the trip. Moreover, the settlements of Magar and Gurung has added an extra bite to the trek as trekker will get and chance to glance the lifestyle and traditions. You will end up in Seti Khola and stay overnight.

Day 05: Hike to Machha Khola (930m/3,051ft)

Directing north from Soti Khola the trail possesses both ups and downs leading us to Machha Khola. Leaving behind the beautiful Sal forest, farmlands you will slowly reach the sandy track with a hint of the arrival of Machha Khola. Night stay in Machha Khola.

Day 06: Trek Machha Khola to Jagat (1,410m/4,625ft)

The small track and little ups and down following the bank of Budhi Gandaki River will take you to the village of Jagat. Night stay in Jagat.

Day 07: Trek Jagat to Deng (1,800m/5,905ft)

After your breakfast, we now head to Rocky watershed towards Salleri and climb down to Setibas. You come across the suspension bridge from where you again climb up to Philim. Philim is the large village of Gurung community. After passing through Budhi Gandaki the path leads towards the west bank in order to cross the east bank of Deng Khola. After few hours walk, you will now reach to Deng Village for accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Deng to Ghap (2,160m/7,086ft)

The trek will lead us to Budhi Gandaki valley leaving behind Deng and Rana. We will reach Sringi Valley after passing through several streams and rivers. A few hours of walk through forests will lead us till Mani walls and then Ghap for an overnight stay.

Day 09: Trek from Ghap to Lho (4,295m/14,091ft)

Once you finish your breakfast the trail heads towards river upstream and huge jungle. The river will be crossed forming a dramatic point where it thunders a tiny Gorge, the jungle will be thin and the track will be visible again. The track is extended through Namru village featuring the beauty of Himal Chuli and now the route heads downhill presenting the view of Chortens, barley terraces etc. The mesmerizing view of Ganesh Himal will take you till Lho for the night.

Day 10: Trek from Lho to Samagaon (3,530m/11581ft)

A trek will surround with beautiful snowcapped mountain peak, a glimpse of the valley including the coniferous forests. After the short climb towards a place called Shyala village we pass to huge Chorten we will see the deep rows of roofs forming the center point of Sama. Also, you can enjoy the traditional Sama Monastery. Night stay at Samagaon.

Day 11: Rest Day/Acclimatization

It does not mean that you only stay in the lodge for the whole day. A rest day means just acclimatize yourself with the altitude and make yourself comfortable with the weather conditions. Today you will walk around the monasteries and explore the village.

Day 12: Trek from Samagaon to Samdo (3,690m/12,106ft)

The trek will drop down through Budi Gandaki River after your breakfast in Samagaon. You need to head north and follow the bridge. The Larkya La track crosses various mmani walls as they start to get broad. The walk will feature some Juniper trees and forests at Kermo Kharka. After passing the Budi Gandaki through a wooden bridge and climbing ups and down you will discover the huge white kani that you have to pass to reach Samdo for the night.

Day 13: Hike to Larkya RestHouse (4,470m/14,665ft)

From Samdo the track goes down to the ridge to pass from the wooden bridge of Budi Gandaki and then climbs up till you meet the stream. Walk form the valley the path leads you till Larkya Phedi. The place is possessed number of guest house and stone houses because of what also renowned as Dharmasala. Hanging around the Dharmasala and night stay in Larkya Rest house.

Day 14: Trek Form Larkya rest house to Bimtang (3,720m/12,204ft)

After you discover the Larkya Rest House and Dharmasala you will continue to explore more about Manaslu region. Soon you will discover Larkya Glacier and admire the beauty of Cho Danda and subsequently appreciate Larkya Peak. As we will reach the top of th pass we will be blessed with the amazing scenery of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru and the Annapurna II. Today is the most difficult day in our entire trek. So, we discontinue our trip at Bimtang for night stay.

Day 15: Trek Bimtang to Dharapani (1860m/6102ft)

Another big day will commence after enjoying breakfast at Bimtang. Today’s route will feature a backdrop of beautiful rhododendron forest, astonishing valleys, and terraced farmed land. Moreover, the cold wind breezing from the Himalayas (Manaslu, Annapurna, and other surrounding mountains) will make you refreshed and active. Heading from green fields, a freshwater stream, and oak forests we will reach till Tilje. The track further follows till Dharapani for night stay.

Day 16: Trek Dharapani to Bahundanda (1,310m/4,297ft)

The trek follows the river to intersect at the bridge and walks on to a rocky path. Subsequently, the trail will climb down to reach Chanje and will not stop until Ghermu Phant. The track is rich with waterfalls and Steep Mountain. Crossing Ghermu will reach to Bahundanda for night stay.

Day 17: Trek to Besisahar (760m/2493ft)

The last day of our trek will mainly descend the trail towards the valley. After you cross the bridge and start walking towards the river bank and towards Nagdi Village. You will encounter several ups and downs on your track until Khudi and from the point walk straight to Besisahar for the night.

Day 18: Drive from Besisahar to Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

You will be transferred to the nearby bus station for your departure to Kathmandu. The bus will leave early morning to Kathmandu in Prithivi Highway. You will be getting one last opportunity to see the terrain, beautiful landscapes, fields, hotels, and motels each side of the highway. You will be stopped twice for your refreshments breakfast and Lunch. You will arrive Kathmandu in around 7 hours. And then advised taking hotel transfer. After freshen up we will pick you up to enjoy the traditional authentic Nepalese Style Dinner. It will be hosted by the company as a Farewell dinner celebrating our success over Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Day 19: Departure / Farewell day

This will be your last day in Kathmandu and our company staff will pick you up from hotel to airport depending on your flight schedule. If you wish to add some more days to your trip or want to explore more about Nepal we are ready to help you in every matter 24/7.
