Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang a place that lies in the northern province of Kathmandu Valley is one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal. It is the nearest hub to skip away from hustle and bustle of the city life. Langtang region is still an untouched beauty, uncrowded and fragile. One who travels this route will experience the communities and villages of Tamangs, Newars, and Sherpas. It is the easiest route among all other major trekking routes as you don’t have to worry about the uncertainty of flights. Langtang offers you a magnificent view of hills, mountains and holy Gosaikunda Lake.

Langtang National Park one of the major conservation campaigns of Nepal government was initiated on 1976 as the First Himalayan National Park of the country. The park covers the area of 1710 square kilometer and is the inhabitants of 4500 people inside the park. Tamang dominated the population of this region. The regions border Tibet on the north and are the source of major rivers like Trishuli and Koshi.

The Langtang region is very rich in case of natural resources with numerous flora and fauna. Oaks, rhododendron, maple, pine are the major variety of trees found in this area. Similarly, Himalayan Black bear, red panda, Tahr, and Rhesus monkey are the major animals’ sight of this place. It is the home of a snow leopard which is in its phase of extinction. Also, the local villagers believe the existence of Yeti and its footprints in the province.

The region got badly affected by the devastating earthquake in the year 2015 destroying many resources and hundreds of lives. The avalanche lashed out many villages during earthquake however people are working hard to bring the village to its original form.

Langtang mountain range covers 13 numbers of total peaks namely Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, Dorje Lakpa, Loenpo Gang, Changbu, Yansa Tsenji, Kyunga Ri, Dogpache, Langsisha Ri, Gangchenpo, Morimoto, Tsogaka, Yala peak. These are the peak with an altitude of 5 to 7 thousand meters height.

An ideal trek for nature lovers, especially for those who want to take a short break from their routine work and embrace the adventure. The Langtang Valley Trek can be accomplished by any person having sound physical fitness. The trekking duration may depend on customer’s choice and needs, nature conditions etc. In standard Case, the trip will be 11 days and can be shortened to 7 days or extend to 15 days.

Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Heartily welcome to you in Nepal. Our company Personnel will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport you will be transferred to three-star category hotel in a privately owned car. Hotel Check-in, resting time, freshen up time will be provided and you have to get ready for the meeting in the company office. The meeting includes the brief explanation of the activities, do and don’ts, and details description of the itinerary. Also, you will receive your permits to enter Langtang National Park. After the completion of the meeting you will be taken for welcome dinner accompanied with Nepali music, dance and cuisines in best typical Nepali restaurant with Nepali Themes. 

Day 02: Explore Kathmandu Valley and Trekking preparation (1,300m/4,264ft)

The sightseeing features some of the main landmarks and UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley including Pashupatinath Temple, Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa. This trip will freshen up your mind and will provide the opportunity to come across the culture and tradition of Nepal. Similarly, you will also experience the ancient royal lifestyle. You will come to see the rituals, belief, and lifestyle of people around the Kathmandu valley. After the trip, all of you are requested to gather in our office for the remaining trek preparation like finalizing your clothing and training to handle the trekking gear if necessary.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi Drive, (7 to 8) hours, (1550m/5100 ft)

The first day of our trip where we drive north from Kathmandu to Sybrubesi in a privately owned car or bus. This place is the entry point of Langtang Valley Trekking route. Throughout your journey, you will be able to discover beautiful hills, rivers, mountain and terrains which will provide you excitement to reach the Langtang Village.

Day 04: Hike to Lama Hotel, 6 hours (2,380m/7,830ft)

The day starts just after the breakfast and refreshments moving our steps towards Lama Hotel. Our path crosses the Langtang Khola as we climb up and down via oak and rhododendron forest.  You will enjoy the natural ambiance of waterfalls, springs, and colorful flowers and ferns and you will reach the Lama Hotel where you are going to stay overnight.

Day 05: Hike to Mundu through Langtang Village, 6 to 7 hours, (3543m/11621 ft)

The day begins climbing up steep hills with a backdrop of dense forest till you reach Ghoda Tabela. You will find many Tea Points on your way where you can have a short rest. Ghoda Tabela is the place where you can beautifully locate the image of the snow-capped mountain and Langtang Himal. The paths continue to Mundu leaving behind temporary settlements and the Buddhist monastery. You will have your overnight stay in Mundu.

Day 06: Trek from Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa, 4 to 5 hours, (3870m/12697 ft)

The trek being after the breakfast in Mundu and head towards Kyangjin Gompa. This Holy Gompa is one of the biggest monasteries of the province. On the way, we come across players wheel, inscriptions, and watermills etc. which resemble the living traditions of the area and the lifestyle of the people. After this short hike, we will reach to Kyangjin Monastery to explore its architecture, importance and its surrounding beauty. Overnight in Kyangjin Gompa.

Day 07: Rest day / Acclimatization day

This is a rest day in the foothills of mountains. You will enjoy a chance to inhale the fresh cold air. Depending on your level of tiredness you can have an option to climb up to Tserko Ri. One of the Classic vantage point of the region. Also, you will be able to see the Himalayan Cheese Factory and the place is ideal for meditation and Yoga. Climbing down to Kyangjibn Gompa, you will see Himalayan springs, pastures, herds of yaks and colorful birds.

Day 08: Climb down from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel, 6 to 7 hours

The trek begins after your breakfast and continues downhill retracing your old paths. Once again, you will have an opportunity to look back to Tamang Villages and its lifestyles. You will have bird's eye view of numerous resources take a snap as you come down to Lama Hotel.

Day 09: Climb down from Lama Hotel till Syabrubesi: 4 to 5 hours

The descending trek will be much easier as the way is steep downward till you will reach a Syabrubesi. There are only a few ups and down by the bank of rivers. You will cross springs and rivers with suspension bridge before you reach Syabrubeshi for an overnight stay.

Day 10: Drive from Syabrubeshi to Kathmandu, 9 hours, (1300m/ 4264 ft)

You will be transferred to the nearby bus station for your departure to Kathmandu. The bus will leave early morning to Kathmandu from Sybrubeshi. You will be getting one last opportunity to see the terrain, beautiful landscapes, fields, hotels, and motels each side of the highway. You will be stopped twice for your refreshments breakfast and Lunch. You will arrive Kathmandu in around 9 hours. And then advised taking hotel transfer. After freshen up we will pick you up to enjoy the traditional authentic Nepalese Style Dinner. It will be hosted by the company as a Farewell dinner celebrating our success Langtang Valley trek.

Day 11: Farewell Day

This will be your last day in Kathmandu and our company staff will pick you up from hotel to airport depending on your flight schedule. If you wish to add some more days to your trip or want to explore more about Nepal we are ready to help you in every matter 24/7.
