Gokyo Valley Trek

Gokyo Valley Trek is one of the most exciting treks on the periphery of Everest region. Gokyo, one of the most attractive lake in Khumbu region lies at the iconic Sagarmatha National Park and covers the area of 196.2 hectares (485 acres). It falls at an altitude of 4,700-5,000m (15,400-16,400 ft.) above sea level.

Gokyo valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

Our company representatives will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport you will be transferred to three-star category hotel in a private car. Hotel Check-in, resting time, freshen up time will be provided and you have to get ready for the meeting in the company office. The meeting includes the brief explanation of the activities, do and don’ts, and details description of the itinerary. Also, you will receive your permits to enter Sagarmatha National Park. After the completion of the meeting you will be taken for welcome dinner accompanied with Nepali music, dance and cuisines in best typical Nepali restaurant with Nepali Themes. 

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Tour and Trek Preparation

The sightseeing features some of the major landmarks and UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley including Pashupatinath Temple, Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa. This trip will freshen up your mind and will provide the opportunity to come across the culture and tradition of Nepal. Similarly, you will also experience the ancient royal lifestyle. You will come to see the rituals, belief, and lifestyle of people around the Kathmandu valley. After the trip, all of you are requested to gather in our office for the remaining trek preparation like finalizing your clothing and training to handle the trekking gear if necessary.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft): 40 minutes flight; 8km, 3 to 4 hours Trek

This is the beginning of the adventure as the day begins with the flight from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hilary airport, Lukla (one of the dangerous airport in the world). You will be introduced to your guide and porter in Lukla from where your treks commence. The trek beings with the easy trails of Chaurikharkha Village and incline towards Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530 m). On your way, you will get a chance to discover Mount Khumbalia, a holy mountain which is never been conquered. The trek continues the bank of Dudhkoshi river until you reach Phakding where you will be staying for the night to acclimatize You can enjoy your free time in Phakding as it is the famous shopping destinations of the region.

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft), (5 to 6 hours walk)

The trek will begin as you will finish your breakfast at Phakding. After few uphills and downhills towards north back dropping the conical pine forest and high suspension bridge you will discover the settlements named Monjo where your guide will assist you to accomplish the necessary formalities and permit check in Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing suspension bridge you will come across Jorsale Village and walk through Dudkoshi and Bhotekoshi Rivers. After that, you come across the trails of gravel and boulders, beautiful forest, and your way to Larja Dhoban. After few hour trek, you will reach up to Mislung paving your way through the stunning view of Everest and Kusum Khangru, and continuing your way to Namche Bazaar. If in the case of remaining time you can enjoy exploring Namche Bazaar. The overnight stay will be in a lodge in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Namche Bazaar – first acclimatization day

Namche Bazaar is one the developed town in Everest region with the infrastructure like bank, ATM, shops, restaurants and colorful market. The trekkers can get the astonishing view of Everest with Sunrise over the mystic Himalayas. You even can get to know about Hilary school and local Monasteries.

Day 06: Hike to Dhole, (4200m/13,779 ft.)

After refreshment, we will start our day to climb uphill to the edge of Namche and hike towards Kyagjuma. The trail will provide the ample opportunity to visualize Nuptse, Ama Dablam and other nearby peaks. After hauling in Kyagjuma we will start our journey to the east of the edge to reach Mongla Pass which provides the breathtaking view of the Everest Panorama. The hike climbs down via rhododendron forest to stay overnight in Dole.

Day 07: Hike to Machherma, 5 to 6 hours walk, (4,470m/14,665 ft.)

After few hours of the climb, the trail will take you towards the north. The trail also has numerous tea house where you can have a rest and drink a cup of hot tea or coffee to stimulate yourself. You will only see the view of mountains and barren slopes as the place don't have vegetation. Night stay in Machherma.

Day 08: Trek Machherma to Gokyo, 4 hours walk, (4,790m/15,715ft)

Just after the breakfast, the journey will begin and we have to climb up till we reach the edge and after that walk flat till the surface of the rocky mountain. After we pass the bride, the lakes start to welcome you and will start making you pulling closer to its nature. You have to cross two Lakes before you reach Gokyo. You will be amazed at the beautifully constructed Lodges by the side of lakes. Night stay in Gokyo.

Day 09: Rest Day or Acclimatize

The day begins with the short hike to Gokyo Ri for the alluring snowy mountain panorama. The place also regarded as the Best Everest Viewpoint. During Afternoon we will climb down to have lunch and explore rest of the glaciers and attractions. Night Stay ion Gokyo.

Day 10: Trek Gokyo to Dole, 4 to 5 hours walk, (4,200m/13,779ft)

The trek starts from Gokyo to Machhermo and will only stop at Dole. The beautiful backdrop on your way down will add zeal to your feeling of accomplishment and provide you change to engage with nature but with another angle. You will feel the nature more closely and lessen your stress. Night Stay in Dole

Day 11: Trek from Dole to Khumjung, 5 to 6 hours walk, (3,580m/11,780ft)

The trail features an enormous diversity of flora and fauna including rhododendron forest. The scene of wildlife like Deer, Himalayan Griffons, wild goats etc. inside the jungle will amaze you with that magic of nature. We will climb down till Kyanjuma and hike upwards to reach the Khumjung for Night stay.

Day 12: Trek Khumjung to Monju, 6 to 7 hours walk, (2,850m/9,348ft)

The day begins heading up to Beautiful Lhunde village where we will have our breakfast and continue to climb the Khumjung Village. The village is popular as the climber village because highest number of climbers are from the same village moreover majority profession of people are climbing and expedition. There is also a large hospital built from the donations and charity. Just finishing up with an exploration of the village the track will guide you towards Namche Bazaar through Syangboche airfield. We will savour our lunch in Namche Bazaar and continue hiking towards Monju for night stay.

Day 13: Trek Monju to Lukla, 4 to 5 hours walk, (2,652m/8700ft)

After our plentiful breakfast at Monju we now find our way to drop down to Lukla leaving aside beautiful pine forest. The few hours walk will take you to Lukla. The evening will be enjoyed hanging around the places, shops and markets for gifts and souvenir.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

After breakfast in Lukla, this is your last chance to say goodbye to Everest region. You have to take a morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Private vehicles will pick you up from Kathmandu airport and will transfer you to a three-star hotel in Kathmandu. Moreover, you even can spend your time buying souvenirs and gifts for your loved one. Or if you want our guide will help you to explore traditional markets and sightseeing. During the evening you will be taken to the Farwell dinner and we celebrate our success over Gokyo Valley Trek.

Day 15: Farewell Day

This is the last day of your memorable trip to Everest. Our company agents or staff will drop you to Tribhuvan International Airport from hotel according to scheduled flight or if you wish to extend your trip we would be more than happy to help you.
